Why did you decide to build a business/blog within your industry?
The payment processing world interested me because I have always been fascinated with business. Businesses need money to operate and payment processing is a vital part of facilitating transactions. The payment processing world is always evolving with new technologies which makes it very interesting.
What is one productivity life hack that you use all the time?
I use Google Docs to keep my documents in one place. It also allows my business partners to easily access documents where we can share ideas. Google Docs have also come in handy when my main laptop was not accessible, yet I was able to get my documents because I backed them up on Google Docs.
Walk us through a day in the life of Nasir Shakouri.
I like to wake up early and go for a jog before I start my day. My morning jog gets my blood pumping and keeps me focused throughout the day. I usually start by communicating with my current clients and prospective clients. I am constantly on my phone and taking meetings with potential acquisition opportunities, business partners, and clients. I usually go through 2 cell phone batteries a day. At the end of the day, I like to take an inventory of what I have done throughout the day and write in my journal. Writing in a journal keeps the ideas flowing and it is a great way to brainstorm new ideas.
How do you organize your day? Lists? Post its? Schedule book? When do you read emails?
I usually like to start with a list so that I know what items need to be crossed off first. I like to prioritize my to do list by starting with items that can be finished within 5 minutes, like answering emails. I do this so that there is one less item on my to do list and I can focus on more time consuming items. When new items pop up, I will add it to the bottom of my to do list.
Who has been the biggest influence on your life? What lessons did that person teach you?
The biggest influences on my life has to be my parents. They have sacrificed so much for me and my brother. My parents have stressed the importance of being earnest and honest in all aspects of life. They taught me that when there is a hard decision in life, the best decision is to do what is right. I truly hope that I can repay them someday.
What is the last good movie you watched?
I finally got to watch The Avengers. I really liked that these super heroes could come together and put their egos aside to save the world. Tony Stark was hilarious and I liked his interactions with Bruce Banner.
How would you like to be remembered?
I would like to be remembered as a loving husband and a father that did everything I could for my family. It would be nice to be remembered as a successful businessman, but I think it is more important to be remembered fondly by the ones you love.
