Gaming clan website “We RuNn ThiS” is a network site of small clans. They have been into a steady grow so far & owner Raymond goes into detail with us about the clan site. And tells us about him self a bit more + history and happening of the site.
1- Max Pen: Can you tell the readers who you are additionally what you do right now or did so far in life?
Raymond: I am currently in time best known for being the CEO & Founder of We RuNn ThiS. I handle all the basic needs of the network talking to the clans and making sure WRT and our players, teams are all on the same page. I am currently finishing my senior year in high school. Than expect going to college to either do two things, one being a community manager for a company (would love to be one for a game developer). Or go for game design. Both are still an iffy of which one I will be going for.
2- Max Pen: Your website has a logo-mascot:
How long do you guy’s use it now and who made it? And how did you manage to get this person to make it? Did he/she ask anything in return or get anything in return?
Raymond: The mascot is used mostly on our t-shirts, clothing lines and on our clans & players official website’s kind of like a stamp of approval. The maker of the mascot name is Melonie better known as PMS Whisper, she is part of the PMS all females clan PMS stands for (Pandora’s Mighty Soldiers). I found her through another ALL females sort of website, which is Frag dolls which is owned by Ubisoft (yes the publisher / game developer). And I just liked the art work she did, started talking to her and BAM we had the mascot. She was amazingly fast when creating it, it was done I believe within two days. We did not get anything in return beside the epic ness of the logo & mascot. Since we did pay to do it
. The mascot itself was actually made late in the project. We did not have it in the beginning of the Website’s existence.
3- Max Pen: Currently you got three people, included your self who is the team behind We RuNn ThiS right? How old is the project now? And what people where helping you
or where part of the team before the current staff?
Raymond: Well, yeah those people are the “Head” of WRT I guess you could call it, we have many people & websites that are even more behind the scenes, who help us. WRT is really an open source project there are more people not directly on WRT’s staff list who help us on a day-to-day basis, including someone I am sure you know. The owner & creator of CosmicBoards.com Cosmic helps us out now and than making sure well the coding is up to date. WRT itself is approaching its one year existence on Jan 11th. Which is highly exciting for not only me but our clans & players, and even our fans. I never pictured WRT going this far. It was honestly an experiment, and well it passed and here we are.
“Matt and myself have a history making websites together. Even though he is
from the United Kingdom and I am from the United States, he helped me
found GamersHideOut and was there throughout all my other little side
projects, and I asked him if he would help me start up WRT, and well he I
believe was an instant YES!”
4- Max Pen: What was the last project before this one ? And how did it go? Do you believe that your current clan site is the best project you ever started so far?
Raymond: I’ve done my fair share of websites and forums. My first ever website was GamersHideOut.net which no longer exists. However during the existence it offered a true underground place for users to talk and engage with one another. It did go through many face-lifts and ways of which we wanted it to work. But in the end I closed it down due to the fact is was not really having a steady future, meaning. I really did not know where I wanted to go with it. However my decision was also impacted by my next website I worked on, this was PsychoticGamer.com.
I was approached by someone I’ve known for quite some time (don’t really talk to him anymore), but he approached me asking if I would help out on the server side of stuff, which I did accept and closed GHO down shortly after. PsychoticGamer had a couple months of success (I still own our very first t-shirt), which only two people have. After PG closed down, I took a pretty long break from the website scene. Going back to doing what I do second best to websites (playing video games). I was hanging out with a ton of clans, and a bunch of them were really good however they all said one thing, “we are good however we need a manager and even a website but never can find a sponsor who will do this.” For a couple months I kept the idea of a website that could do this now known as (We RuNn ThiS). And that is how I started my Internet adventures.
5- Max Pen: You got three sponsors and three clans, can you tell us a little bit more about them?
Raymond: That bit on the top of the website is not that updated, we are still working on getting some of the website working better, we actually have three sponsors one player and two teams. And of course! Creative Concepts was just actually brought to us as a partnership deal, and they sponsor any and ALL of our players and teams. The teams and players that accept their help, put CreativeConcepts logo under their sponsorship areas on their websites and or profiles. FracDesigns is not really with us that much at the moment but we do have plans on re-newing our partnership as well, but they have helped on some graphics on our current website here and there which helps us out a TON.
The CoffeeCup isn’t really a sponsor I know its very miss-leading but, the beginning of WRT we really did not have a well coded website so I contacted a couple companies to try to strike a deal with them. I came across CoffeeCup which their main focus is making awesome programs that not only help you code but upload to your website. Thus they gave me a donated key to their program if we placed them onto our sponsors. We never really used the program to code our website, as we like to go the notepad way. However I just never saw the need to take it down, since they did help us out a bit by even considering giving us something when we were really a nobody in the gaming scene.
We are also missing a player under that spot however you can see it on the team tab, it is “on3 assassin” he is a player from Canada. Our actual very first team (Not Army Of Beasts) even though we consider them our first real team. Was from the United Kingdom but quickly ran into some leadership problems. Our co-founder Matt was actually a member in the clan. However I knew Matt through almost ALL of my projects he helped me with my very first gaming related website (GamersHideOut).
6- Max Pen: Anyone can also buy T-shirts from you guy’s: clan wrt T-shirts When was it set up and why?
Raymond: Well at first we setup up for our staff to buy some stuff, but than thought we would make it public. It helps us get the word out whenever someone buys one, we have had little success with it. But it seems to be turning around to a profit we are always looking into cheaper prices, as if you looked I am sure you saw some stuff can be pretty expensive. Like said it was later announced to the public so everyone can enjoy some WRT gear.
7- Max Pen: Did you join in the match of this game:
Did the “Army of Beasts” win? What was the goal or target of the match?
Raymond: I do not play in our clans wars. We only help manage them on their website or with their clan altogether, however the object to win that game mode is to reduce the opponents’ “ticket” meter by scoring kills and capturing strategically placed flags. And of course they won! A little side story; When we first acquired Army Of Beasts every clan war we would ask “did you win?”, probably got a bit annoying on their end hah, specially when the playoffs came we got really nervous waiting for the results. But than we started just remembering how awesome and epic they are. And would just check their scores.
8- Max Pen: Have you been part of a clan before setting up your own? What attracts you so much to clans or having your own clan?
Raymond: Yes, I have been part of many clans. I have tons of experience when it comes to helping these clans know how to manage themselves, however WRT itself and myself offer for us to manage them. Thus I think this is why the clans & players we have like being a part of the WRT Network. Because we are ALL gamers been into clan wars won/lost, so it’s not just random guys telling you what to do. Just the feel of knowing that your clans under your website are doing good is what attracts myself to keep it going. However we do LOVE having underdogs
WRT is known for bringing in more underdogs to our network than already established teams & players.
9- Max Pen: You also house a team that is 102-0 in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Do you mean as top in the rankings and who are the people in the team that have those
scores?
Raymond: The 102-0 is their win to loss ratio they have not lost a game and currently hold the title for two years in a row. And have officially retired from that game. If you also check the player rankings on the PlayStation 3 ladder they own the top 15 I believe. They’re really in our eyes one amazing player, you do not win 102 in a row with one player and especially in a game like Battlefield Bad company 2.
Where clan wars can last for hours upon hours. Everyone in the team as you can see in some of their videos have a job. Army Of Beasts which are the team we are talking about is one of our top teams in our network, and was our very first established team. They have actually only won one championship under our network. We acquired them late in the second season. Since than we still have a very strong connection among us and them, which helps us make them better as a clan identity and vice versa.
10- Max Pen: Your top 5 video games? And on what platform is it the best to play most video games?
Raymond: ooh that is a tough question! I would say my list would be SOCOM Series,Uncharted,Red dead redemption, Angry Birds, Minecraft. I is a PS3 fanboy by heart, however I own a Wii, 360 and do enjoy playing them. However I think the PlayStation 3 stands up for its reputation, with its always amazing graphics and well FREE SERVICE. Makes it in my eyes the best platform to play on.
11- Max Pen: Has the project proved to be more difficult then expected when you started with it? Or has it been going more smooth then any other of your projects?
Raymond: The project at times can be very difficult, however for the majority of the time it’s pretty smooth around us. We are all very laid back down to earth people. So it makes it a fun and enjoyable time trying to bring the best out of WRT. I would have to say the beginning of the project was probably the most difficult, one reason being getting the name out there can be a time consuming task. We still aren’t that well known but well enough that we have some amazing players and clans. And we are highly thankful for their playing for us.
12- Max Pen: what other site profile like a Facebook or twitter page does “We RuNn ThiS” have? Is your twitter page the best working of them all? And what is your experience so far in total with using Twitter?
Raymond: Well we do two major areas we have a twitter (@clanwrt) and a Facebook page http://facebook.com/werunnthis we use both however, we use Twitter more for silly chat and serious. However we use our FB fan page for more serious stuff.
Thank you a lot Raymond for this interview with me. I hope everyone has a good read and the teams hosted on your site may win tons more games! -Max Pen

WOW! I never knew this even existed. I always throught that playing online was just a bunch of friends made up a clan and online it was just someone started a clan, recruited and got really good because they had standards that needed to be met before someone was eligable to join. 5/5
Nice to read and I learnt abit more about Ray. Thanks! Nice interview, 5/5
Tom.
Very interesting interview. Nice read.
Not a bad interview although I think on the interviewers part you shouldn’t ask so may questions in ‘one round’ of questioning. Overall it was a decent read but the questions don’t give the interviewee enough freedom of explaining.
I know but the interview was mainly about the website not the person who got interviewed. I’ll try to improve my methods though, thanks Dan.
